LG WEBOS · DEVELOPER PREVIEW

LG webOS Installation

Standalone IPK launcher, no-root and existing-root modules. AI install, manual steps, one-line command, recovery, and weather off by default.

Prebuilt 0.1.0 test IPK available. Untested on physical LG TVs; not stable and does not intercept Home. No source build needed.

Please report model, firmware and installation, remote, settings, apps/HDMI, optional weather, LG Home, wake and reboot results in GitHub Issues. Do not share pairing secrets. Update with ares-install using the new IPK; no prior uninstall needed.

1 · Prepare the TV

Enable LG Developer Mode and Key Server. Install Node.js and @webos-tools/cli on your computer, add the device with ares-setup-device, then retrieve its key with ares-novacom --getkey. webOS uses SSH/Luna, not ADB.

npm install -g @webos-tools/cli
ares-setup-device
ares-setup-device --list
ares-novacom --device myTV --getkey
ares-device --system-info --device myTV

Developer Mode commonly uses prisoner@TV_IP:9922. myTV is your configured device alias, not its IP. Never disclose SSH keys or pairing codes.

2 · Install with AI

Send this to an agent able to execute commands. Preflight must precede installation; an SSH connection is not proof of Home-key takeover.

First identify whether my TV runs LG webOS. Read https://github.com/lesnolie/Tigris/blob/main/docs/WEBOS_AI_INSTALL.md and https://github.com/lesnolie/Tigris/blob/main/webos/README.md. Use LG Developer Mode, Key Server, @webos-tools/cli and SSH/Luna; never ADB. Run read-only preflight and report firmware and verified Home Helper status. Request pairing and protect SSH secrets. Only after consent build/install the source-preview IPK. Never root, flash, replace LG Home, or enable an unverified key helper. Verify D-pad, OK, apps, optional weather and stock Home recovery on the actual TV; don't claim untested success.

3 · One-line installer

Pair the TV, run read-only preflight, then opt into building a normal IPK from main source. This builds a source preview; it is not a stable download.

Read-only preflight

curl -fsSLo tigris-webos.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lesnolie/Tigris/main/webos/install.sh && sh tigris-webos.sh --device myTV --preflight

Install preview after approval

sh tigris-webos.sh --device myTV --install

For POSIX shells on macOS/Linux. Never roots, modifies LG Home or enables an unverified Helper.

4 · Manual install

Download the preview IPK and checksum, verify SHA-256, then run in the download folder. No clone or packaging required; Windows PowerShell also works.

npm install -g @webos-tools/cli
ares-setup-device
ares-setup-device --list
ares-novacom --device myTV --getkey
ares-device --system-info --device myTV
ares-install --device myTV org.tigris.webos_0.1.0_all.ipk
ares-launch --device myTV org.tigris.webos

5 · Two capability modules

No Root

Normal Developer Mode app, Luna app/inputs, remote navigation and optional weather. Native Home Helper isn't shipped; LG Quick Access is an alternative.

Already Rooted

Checks existing Homebrew/Root capability only. No root exploits, flashing or system modifications. Advanced Home routing needs separate validated recovery.

6 · Weather (off by default)

Open-Meteo; manual city selection, ~30-minute refresh and up to six hours of cache. No requests while off and no silent IP geolocation.

7 · Uninstall and recovery

sh tigris-webos.sh --device myTV --uninstall
# or: ares-install --device myTV --remove org.tigris.webos

Removes only the webOS Tigris app. LG Home was never modified by this preview; remove Quick Access bindings on the TV.
